Jeju, like a jewel on the South Sea of Korea, is a volcanic island that has a unique

Chairman Sunghwan Suh, the founder of Amore Pacific, was interested in Jeju's
unique vegetation, clean water and air, and rich soil. When starting green tea culti-
vation as a part of the cultural project in 1979, he chose the hilly area of Mt. Halla in
Seogwipo, Jeju as the spot to produce chemical-free green tea. He reclaimed the
barren land with his own hands and developed it into the chemical-free green tea
fields of today.
Chairman Suh and the staff of Amore Pacific have come to understand the charac-
teristics and advantages of the island through profound communion with nature.
Such insight and understanding became the foundation for Innisfree to bring cus-
tomers great natural cosmetics that contain the DNA of Jeju. Let us introduce the
precious relationship among Amore Pacific Innisfree, and the pristine island, Jeju.
Look around Mt. Halla which is in the very center of the island. It is quite fascinating
that subtropical, temperate, and polar plants grow vertically layered along the slope
from the lake on top of Mt. Halla to the indigo coast. So to say, various climates are
placed in a line on the slope.
Since a variety of climates coexist, the flora of Jeju is distinctly different from that of
other regions. 2,001 different species of plants are found in Mt. Halla, which means
that Jeju has much more natural DNAs than Mt. Baekdu and Mt. Jiri combined.
A path that runs through yellow canola fields, nameless wildflowers swaying to the
breeze, and sweet tangerine trees. it is 'Jeju Olle Trail'. 'Olle' means 'narrow alley' in
Jeju dialect, but people redefined it as the 'most beautiful and peaceful track in the
world'. It is also a path to healing where you can derive great comfort from pure
nature. Since the first trail was developed in 2007, a total of 21 trails with a total
length of 350 kilometers welcome visitors as of 2010.
The sea surrounding the island is a blessing that protects pure nature.
The iridescent blue created by Mother Nature emits refreshing energy in the sea of
Jeju. A good example would be the natural bedrock water coming from the volcanic
island. The blue DNA of Jeju originated from a dark blue color in the far sea turns
into emerald waves when it reaches offshore, and into soft bubbles against the
basalt rocks by the coast. While streaming through the hills of the mountain,
soft light goes clear.
The ingredients we discovered in the unpolluted island, Jeju, are filled with
the DNA and energy of pure nature.
Innisfree is producing more reliable
'natural' products by Amore Pacific's R&D center, the largest cosmetics research
institute in Korea, with the clea ingredients from Jeju Island.
